Christian music news: Third Day Enters Georgia Music Hall Of Fame

Latest christian music:

Multi-Platinum, GRAMMY-winning rock band Third Day took its place alongside other Peach State music legends on Saturday, Sept. 19 as the group was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Georgia Music Festival organization, was telecast on Atlanta-based public television station WGTV-Channel 8, and featured performances by Third Day and fellow 2009 inductees Collective Soul, along with Randall Franks and The Georgia Mafia Bluegrass Band, Reginald Smith and others.

Together with Third Day and Collective Soul, the 2009 inductee class included music promoter Peter Conlon, GRAMMY-winning songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox, music industry pioneer Johnny L. Carson, and posthumous honors for singer/songwriter Roy Hamilton, record executive Shakir Stewart and bass guitarist Berry Oakley.

Previous inductees into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame include rock legends such as the Allman Brothers Band, R.E.M. and Lynyrd Skynyrd, country star Alan Jackson, soul/R&B fixtures Otis Redding, James Brown and Usher, and songwriter/producer L.A. Reid.

“This was such an incredible honor for all of us,” offers bassist, Tai Anderson. “Our families, management team, booking agency, label and fans were all represented that evening which made it even more special. Terry Hemmings, President and CEO of Provident Music Group, who originally signed us to Reunion Records back in 1995, was on hand to induct us. This was such a great way to celebrate 15 years together. Here’s to 15 more!”

The Georgia Music Hall of Fame honor was the latest in the line of special moments for the band this summer, including the recent acquisition of its 27th career No. 1 radio single, “Born Again” from the 2008 release Revelation. The single sits at No. 1 on the AC Indicator charts this week for the fifth consecutive week with nearly 18 million impressions this week and 227 million impressions since the single was released to radio May 8th, 2009.

The band hits the road again starting Oct. 8 for the fall leg of the “Revelation Tour,” which will also feature artists from the roots gospel project Glory Revealed, a lineup that includes Third Day’s Mac Powell, author/speaker David Nasser, Laura Story, Trevor Morgan, Shawn Lewis and other
special guests.

The fall “Revelation Tour” continues Third Day’s tradition of “paying it forward” by donating $1 per ticket sold to charitable organizations through its Come Together Fund. Through this fund, Third Day--who actively supports the ONE Campaign--has been able to serve charities such as Habitat For Humanity, Blood:Water Mission, World Vision’s Hope Child Initiative and is responsible for more than a million dollars in donations over the last four years to disaster relief in and outside of the U.S.

Christian music news: Third Day Has Some Amazing Songs..

Latest christian music: Third Day's best work seems to be the songs that either (a) talk about certain strugles of the life of a believer as he/she tries to understand who God is, or (b) Are a re-do of older hymns and psalms. A few good examples of the first kind are songs such as Cry Out to Jesus, Mountain of
God and Show Me Your Glory. On the other hand, songs that are good re-dos of older songs include Agnus Dei, God Of Wonders and Better is One Day. As long their songs include big emphasis on worship and understanding of God, they'll continue to be one of my favorite bands. Their songs have a pretty nice mix of introspective music and some shades of rock. Mountain of God is one of their latest songs, and also one of their best ones. You'll find ten of their best songs listed below. However, I really recommend that you listen to at least the top 3 - Mountain of God, Better Is One Day and Cry Out To Jesus. Also, if you want to download any music online (legally), please consider this program. That's the best and the only way to download music that I know of.

Mountain Of God – This song deals with the classic question of suffering in life. If God really does exist, then why doesn't He just make my life easy? Well, that's because God is more concerned with your character than with your comfort. He would rather develop your character than make sure that you have enough money and so on. The part of the song that really covers this well is the chorus. The song emphasizes a few important points - God is with us, just as Jesus promised, throuhg everything. However, we sometimes have to go through suffering before we'll repent and change. Eve in the early church, God used persecution to spread the gospel throughout the world.

Christian music news: THIRD DAY WRAPS POWERHOUSE “REVELATION TOUR” ( Part 2 )

Latest christian music: The “Revelation Tour” continued Third Day’s tradition of “paying it forward” by donating $1 per ticket sold to charitable organizations through its Come Together Fund. Through this fund, Third Day–who actively supports the ONE Campaign–has been able to serve charities such as Habitat For Humanity, Blood:Water Mission, World Vision’s Hope Child Initiative and is responsible for more than a million dollars in donations over the last 4 years to disaster relief in and outside of the U.S.
For the “Revelation Tour,” Third Day formed a redemptive partnership with Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee on behalf of Rwanda. The two paired up after David Carr–the band’s drummer and a coffee connoisseur–experienced a Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee House near Atlanta. Third Day drew attention to the fair trade company, in part, by featuring a Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee mobile shop and barista at each “Revelation Tour” stop.
“I was surprised to learn that 80 percent of the coffee Americans consume is exploitation coffee,” explains Carr. “But, in addition to serving an excellent, freshly roasted cup of joe, Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company works directly with coffee growers in Rwanda to ensure each worker is treated fairly and paid a living wage. As they enjoy the fruit of their labor, growers experience the sweetness of God’s grace. Perhaps this is a revelation many need to hear; that their daily habits have a remarkable impact on people all over the world, that through simply purchasing coffee where every worker is taken care of, an entire nation is experiencing redemption.”
Entrepreneurial pastor Jonathan Golden started Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee after learning the 1994 genocide in Rwanda devastated the coffee growing community and left the surviving growers in unjust conditions. In addition to practicing fair trade, Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee has invested a portion of its profits into village projects like building a coffee washing station in Bukonya, offering microfinance loans to entrepreneurs (including helping widows become entrepreneurs and cultivate their businesses), providing coffee bikes to growers, and, ever important, financing care for village orphans.
“We are so thankful to Third Day for allowing us to team up with them on the ‘Revelation Tour’,” says Golden. “The band’s support has allowed us to reach hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country, all with the goal of cultivating community and pursuing social justice in Rwanda. With the help of Third Day, we are actively on our way to transforming the village of Bukonya, Rwanda: 210 farmers, 1,200 family members, and 500 orphans.” For more information on Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee visit: www.landofathousandhills.com.
In recent weeks, Third Day has also been celebrating a hit album, a continual No.1 radio single, the recent release of its DVD/CD project titled Live Revelations: On Stage, Off Stage, Backstage, and the dedication of the Gateway School for impoverished children in India which Third Day helped build through the Come Together Fund.
At the same time, Third Day’s latest, No. 1-debuting album, Revelation (7/29/08), is approaching 400,000 units scanned as the record continues to move more than 5,000 copies each week. After nine months out, the album remains in the Top 10 of the Nielsen Christian Albums sales chart.
The band is also celebrating the release of the third single from Revelation, “Born Again.” This week the band saw 16 stations add the single out of the box (9 at AC/7 at CHR). Stations who added early include the WAY-FM network, KCMS/Seattle, KTIS/Minneapolis, WRBS/Baltimore and SIRIUS/XM.
About Third Day:
Over the past decade, rock band Third Day (made up of members Mac Powell, Tai Anderson, David Carr and Mark Lee) has racked up 26 No. 1 radio singles and sold close to seven million albums. The band has garnered 24 career Dove Awards, three GRAMMY Awards (with eight career nominations), an American Music Award, three AMA nominations and multiple ASCAP honors.

Christian music news: Third Day performs songs about life

Latest christian music: Tai Anderson, who is bassist for the Christian rock band Third Day, remembers the canceled Salt Lake performance last March.
"We were in Las Vegas," Anderson said by phone from Nashville, "and we just finished a show. We were watching the weather channel and saw one big color on the screen. We realized that that was our road to Salt Lake City. There were heavy snow advisories and the announcement went out that vehicles traveling needed to have chains. It was mandatory.
"It was a hard decision for us because Salt Lake had sold out, and so had Denver. We thought we could make it, but then we got back to reality and thought of our crew and the equipment."
Anderson said the band then discussed flying into Salt Lake City, since the weather here was OK. "So we started making plans to get tickets and rent equipment when we got to the venue, but then we stepped back from that plan. It didn't feel right. We all agreed that when we play Salt Lake we were going to give them a good show, not one that was thrown together.
"So, now we're coming back. We're going to hit Denver for two shows, then go to Colorado Springs, and by then we'll be all warmed up for Salt Lake City."
Anderson, guitarist/ Brad Avery, vocalist Mac Powell, guitarist Mark Lee and drummer David Carr formed Third Day in Atlanta, Ga., where they all still live.
"When I was a kid, I wanted to play music," said Anderson. "I tried out different instruments but liked the bass because it was the medium between guitar and drums. And there was the added bonus that no one wanted to play bass. They all want to play guitar, sing or play drums. So there was more opportunity for me to play in bands."
Anderson played in cover bands throughout his youth. But he also played with his church's youth group. "We had a pastor who encouraged us to play, and one day the other guys of Third Day were attending our youth group and we decided to put a band together. It was a natural thing. We didn't really think about becoming a Christian band. But we all were so passionate about our faith that it felt right."
For 15 years, Third Day has been on its musical ministry. And Anderson said he's seen some changes in the music business regarding Christian and inspirational bands. "There is more of a respect going on. I remember when we were awarded our Dove Awards (a sort of Christian Grammy). We all huddled backstage and said to each other, 'Now when people make fun of Christian bands, we're going to be included.'
"So we made the decision to embrace who we were. There are other bands who would have tried to distance themselves from the genre, but we wanted to be true to ourselves. And now, it seems our genre of music is much in demand."
As examples, Anderson cited Switchfoot and P.O.D. as bands that have found a following with the hard-rock crowd, and Jars of Clay, which found a college audience. "Even U2 and Bruce Springsteen's recent albums have had a spiritual revival feel. There was a point in time when music delved on the dark and scary places of life. And I think there have been people who wanted to claw their way out of the pits. And they look to bands like us to help them out.
"We write and perform songs about life. But we try to find ways to uplift people who are having problems. We don't try to dwell on the problems."

Christian music news: THIRD DAY’S BRAD AVERY PENS “THANK YOU”

Latest christian music: Brad Avery, of GRAMMY-winning and multi-Platinum-certified Christian rock band Third Day, has co-penned “Thank You,” a stirring anthem selected as the new theme song for A Million Thanks, www.amillionthanks.org. Written with friend, Scott Thomas, “Thank You” is a stirring anthem written from the perspective of someone back home, writing a letter of gratitude to a soldier fighting somewhere across the globe. The song shares a common focus with this unique, charitable campaign.
The inspiration for “Thank You” began at an airport when Scott Thomas met a soldier who was departing for Fallujah after a two week visit with his family in the U.S. After a moving conversation, Scott felt led to reach out in some way, but didn't know what to do. With all of the negative news coverage of the war, none of which focused on our soldiers and their sacrifice, he decided to write a song to show his gratitude. With help from his good friend, Brad Avery, they put their thoughts and feelings to music.
Avery and Thomas hope to encourage soldiers and their families by letting them know the gratitude felt for their sacrifice for our country and our freedom. “We also hope to incite others to express their thanks verbally and through random acts of kindness to soldiers and their families,” shares Avery.
Another person moved to reach out in thanks to our soldiers is Shauna Fleming, a recent high school graduate from Orange, Calif. and founder of A Million Thanks. The year-round campaign was launched when Shauna was a freshman in order to show our U.S. Military Men and Women, past and present, appreciation for their sacrifices, dedication, and service to our country through our letters, emails, cards, prayers, and thoughts.
When Shauna heard “Thank You,” she loved it and decided to make it the campaign’s theme song. “‘Thank You’ is exactly what the A Million Thanks organization is all about,” she says. “The song lyrics match what Americans say in the millions of thank you letters that we have received and distributed to the troops around the world. We pray for them, we miss them and we want to thank them.”
A Million Thanks has collected and distributed over three million thank you letters and cards to U.S. military members since March, 2004. Along the way, Fleming has partnered with General Motors to further the efforts of her organization. GM featured Fleming in a series of national commercials aired during the month of May, National Military Appreciation Month. In the ads, Fleming asks viewers to thank our military men and women by writing a thank you letter and depositing them in special A Million Thanks mailboxes at all 3,500 Buick, Pontiac and GMC dealers across the country. Their goal collecting one million thank you letters during the month of May was achieved.

Christian music news: Third Day Biography

Latest christian music: Across more than a decade, Third Day has sold in excess of six million albums. Its tallied 24 No. 1 radio singles, 24 career Dove Awards, two GRAMMY Awards and two consecutive American Music Award nods. To make it all happen, the Atlanta-based five-piece maintains a touring record second-to-none, playing for millions of loyal fans. Spotlighting moments that have stood the test of time, Chronology traces the music and the images showcasing this unforgettable trek. Chronology, Volume Two (2001-2006), featuring hits and a 10-year video documentary, will release this fall.

“These songs have been a lot of help and encouragement to us as a band,” Mac Powell says. “Hopefully they’ve been equally so for fans who have been with us all these years. It’s really been a privilege.”

With Chronology, longtime Third Day fans will revisit the hits that attracted them to the confab from the beginning. Recent converts—those fans attracted to the tight, progressive rock measures of Wire and Wherever You Are, for example—can now discover in one collection the musical roots of their favorite tracks today.

“We continue to see we’re making a lot of new fans, even with our most recent album, Chronology, Volume One,” Tai Anderson says. “This project is our way of offering a look into the early days of the band; those windows of time that made us who we are today. It offers amazing musical elements but the DVD delivers some really fun stuff; some very personal memories shared by the five of us, that we’re so excited to unveil. It’s something of a snapshot of where we’ve been and where we’re going.’”

No matter when a listener became one of Third Day’s deeply loyal enthusiasts, all can agree something special happened when Powell, Mark Lee, Anderson, David Carr and Brad Avery united. In the mid-1990s, when most rock bands lived on the scraps left by bombastic, vocal-driven marquee acts like 4HIM, Point of Grace, and Clay Crosse, plus introspective singer/songwriters like Rich Mullins and Cindy Morgan, Third Day challenged the status quo. With tight rhythms and heavy guitar surrounding Powell’s earthy lead vocals, Third Day operated like nothing else in the genre. Later, thanks to its unique live/studio-blended worship record Offerings: A Worship Album, the band played a key role in advancing the modern worship movement still popular today.

Chronology, Volume One (1996-2000) includes the rock, pop, modern worship and adult contemporary song titles that thrust Third Day into the forefront. Included are “Nothing At All,” “Consuming Fire,” “Your Love Oh Lord,” “King of Glory” and “Have Mercy,” and many others. Anchoring the project are two exclusive new recordings, “Thief 2006” and “My Hope Is You 2006,” while seven of the 17 tracks are newly-released mixes. Rarities include “Long Time Comin’” and “She Sings In Riddles,” previously only available on the limited release Southern Tracks. Rounding out the project are newly-released live cuts, “Blackbird” and “Alien.” Extensive historical liner notes and photography accompany the music in elaborate packaging fans will be eager to own.

Composed with a nod to “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” the DVD features music videos, GMA Dove Award Show performances and never-before-seen bootleg videos—archival footage from band members’ personal collections.

Says Powell, “As much as we want to challenge our audience to ask questions about things of faith and life, writing and playing these songs has allowed us to ask those same questions and to try to be real with who we are as we wrestle for answers.”

Again and again, the questions yield a single answer: “Love one another.” Clinging to that time-honored message, Chronology Volume One (1996-2000) documents inspired musicians and their hard-fought story to live out an ambitious mission.

“We learned from each other passion for God, worship, service and looking out for the least of these,” Lee concludes. “These are crucial aspects of faith that are easy to overlook when simplified into a collection of songs. That’s what I hope people will remember happened to us as we made these songs. We hope that our experience affected their experience, too. And that’s what we hope will come out more and more as we continue forward.”

Christian music news: Top Ten Third Day Songs

Latest christian music: Third Day was formed in 1991 by front-man Mac Powell and guitarist Mark Lee. Soon after, they expanded the band and began recording albums. A Christian group hailing from Georgia, their songs focus on faith in God. With three Grammy's to their name, Third Day has
plenty of hits. Here are ten of their best songs:

1. Cry out to Jesus
This raw and sorrowful song encourages people who are suffering to cry out to Jesus. It promises hope and reminds us of a Savior who can offer rest and peace. I like this song because it asserts that no problem is too great for God to handle.

2. God of Wonders
With the opening Oasis-like guitar riff and lyrics that speak of God's creation, this song is likely Third Day's most popular. The lyrics, "the universe displays your majesty" are repeated many times, making for a passionate praise song.

3. I've Always Loved You
"I've Always Loved You" is a sweet song that speaks of a God who has loved his people before there was time. This song also serves as a meditation on God's sacrifice for us. I personally like this song because it reminds me that even when I stray from God, his love remains constant.

4. I Believe
This up-beat song professes a positive and hopeful belief system. In a world where Christianity is often painted in a negative light, this song focuses on the most enduring principles of Christianity: faith, hope, and love.

5. You are Mine
Of all Third Day's songs, this one has the most mainstream appeal. Within the song's beautiful melody, the lyrics profess that God's sacrifice allows us to claim Him as our own.

6. These Thousand Hills
This edgy and alternative sounding song talks about Jesus dying on the cross and the hope that we can have for an eternity in heaven. The powerful imagery conveyed in the lyrics reminds me of Bible stories I heard growing up in the church.

7. Your Love, Oh Lord
This worship song contains the lyrics of Psalm 36. It talks about the vastness and unshakeable nature of God's love. The lyrics say it all: Your love Oh Lord reaches to the heavens/Your faithfulness stretches to the skies/Your righteousness is like the mighty mountain/Your justice flows like the ocean's tides.

The “Revelation Tour,” which kicked off in March and concluded with a sellout date in Abbotsford, Canada on May 9 also boasted sold-out dates in cities such as Macon, Ga.; Jonesboro, Ark.; Bossier City, La.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Corona, Calif.; Redding, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Modesto, Calif.; Abbotsford, BC; Green Bay, Wis.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Phoenix, Arizona.

Dan Fife, of Awakening Events, offers, “In four months, we had four sold-out shows between Winter ‘08 and Spring ‘09, including a March 20th show with 4,500 Third Day fans at the Arkansas State University Convocation Center. The energy level at our shows was awesome and we had more follow up comments than you can imagine. Besides the full houses, we always enjoy knowing we are a small part of making a difference in the world through the Third Day Come Together Fund, which supports various humanitarian projects around the globe.”

Thanks to a forward-looking and consistent online presence by Third Day, the band and its fans enjoy an unusual level of interaction. “Facebook and Twitter have proven to be invaluable tools for communicating with our fans on a whole new level. It has given us another platform to connect with them on this tour,” explains Third Day guitarist Mark Lee. “From up-to-the-minute updates to even taking song requests on Twitter, fans are given a more immediate glimpse into the day-to-day life of a working band, and we have another vehicle to get the word out about Third Day.” The band’s most popular online destinations are: http://thirdday.blogs.com/, http://www.thirdday.com/, http://marklee.posterous.com/, www.twitter.com/thirdday, and http://www.twitter.com/marklee3d

The “Revelation Tour” continued Third Day’s tradition of “paying it forward” by donating $1 per ticket sold to charitable organizations through its Come Together Fund. Through this fund, Third Day--who actively supports the ONE Campaign--has been able to serve charities such as Habitat For Humanity, Blood:Water Mission, World Vision’s Hope Child Initiative and is responsible for more than a million dollars in donations over the last 4 years to disaster relief in and outside of the U.S.

For the “Revelation Tour,” Third Day formed a redemptive partnership with Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee on behalf of Rwanda. The two paired up after David Carr--the band’s drummer and a coffee connoisseur--experienced a Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee House near Atlanta.

Third Day joins Big Kenny and others for big AIDS benefit in Nashville

Christian rock superstars, Third Day will join an all-star cast of recording artists from all across the music industry for the inaugural Nashville4Africa benefit concert on April 22 at 7 p.m. at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

The event’s co-host Big Kenny of Big & Rich invited Third Day to join the benefit’s lineup after befriending the Provident Label Group band through their mutual commitment to the long-term fight against HIV/AIDS and poverty in Africa. In addition to Big Kenny and Third Day, the concert will feature performances by co-host Damien Horne, Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Dierks Bentley, Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down, Ashley Cleveland, The SteelDrivers, Michael Rhodes, Brandon Young, the African Children's Choir and others.

“Big Kenny found out we would be in Nashville for the Dove Awards next week, and asked us to
be a part of this wonderful, redemptive night,” says Third Day front man Mac Powell. “Saying ‘yes’ was a no-brainer because this event will be all heart. It’s an honor to join these amazing artists in serving Africa.”

Concert proceeds will benefit charitable causes in the African countries of Uganda and war-torn Sudan. Through the Love Everybody Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, a charitable organization benefiting from this event, Big Kenny will transport much-needed medical and educational supplies to southern Sudanese villages. Event proceeds will also help build a school in Entebbe, Uganda for the African Children’s Choir, which cares for and fosters thousands of underprivileged children throughout the continent of Africa.

“The crisis in Sudan is as dire as we’ve ever seen it. The refugees there are depending on people all over the world to come to their aid,” says Big Kenny, performer and organizer for African relief. “We hope by continuing to raise awareness and support through the African Children’s Choir and aid outreach, we will continue to let love shine through the terrible violence that so many of God’s children there have endured.”

Tickets for the Nashville4Africa benefit concert range in price from $30 to $200 and may be purchased at www.nashvillesymphony.org or by calling the Schermerhorn Symphony Center box office at (615) 687-6400.

THIRD DAY’S “REVELATION” TOUR AND ALBUM DEFY MARKET TRENDS

(Nashville, Tenn.) March 27, 2009 – The multi-platinum, GRAMMY and AMA winning rock band Third Day is celebrating sold-out tour dates, a hit album, and a continual No. 1 radio single.

The renowned band kicked off its spring “Revelation Tour” this month and has already seen its dates in Green Bay, WI, Pittsburgh, PA, Worcester, MA, Shreveport, LA and the forthcoming show in Macon, GA sell out. While other major acts are starting to bow to the current economic climate by slashing general admission ticket prices, Third Day’s fan support remains as vibrant as ever. A prime example was the recent stop in Jonesboro where 4,600 of the band’s fans converged on Arkansas State University’s Convention Center.

“We’re humbled by the overwhelming response of our fans to this tour,” says Third Day guitarist Mark Lee. “And I don’t just mean the attendance. While there’s a lot of talk these days about concerts and movies being a chance for people to escape from reality, we consider it an honor to help them confront their anxiety head-on. We want our concerts to be about finding hope in the midst of difficulty.”

The “Revelation Tour,” which also features reigning “New Artist of the Year” and recent double-GRAMMY nominee, Brandon Heath, and new four-piece pop/rock band, Revive, launched March 5 in Champagne, IL and will conclude in Abbotsford, BC on May 9.

While Third Day is on top of the proverbial world right now, there is bitter-sweet fallout that comes with a run of dates as successful as the “Revelation Tour.” Dan Fife, of Dan Fife Communications & Marketing for Awakening Events, explains. “We have heard from so many people telling us how remarkable the Revelation Tour was last weekend. We have had three sold out shows with Third Day since Revelation hit the shelves, and I have another show this weekend that looks like it will make it to capacity! We really appreciate the support we get from the band, CAA and their management to help pull these shows off... there is a real team effort here. Obviously, when you put over 4,000 people into a venue in this environment, there is something special happening, and we are excited to be a part of it.”

These days, Third Day is celebrating more than their fantastic tour. The band’s latest, No. 1-debuting album, Revelation (7/29), is approaching 350,000 units sold as the record continues to move more than 5,000 copies each week. After eight months out, the album remains in the Top 15 of the Christian Nielsen SoundScan sales chart. Meanwhile, the record’s current single, “Revelation,” holds the No. 1 spot at Christian radio for the sixth consecutive week.

All this momentum is creating a sort of perfect storm as Third Day gears up for the April 7 release of its latest project, a DVD/CD titled Live Revelations: On Stage, Off Stage, Backstage. The 75-minute documentary seamlessly blends Third Day’s engaging live concert experience with exclusive behind-the-scenes moments as only an “all access” pass can offer. Fans will get a personal glimpse of the band living day-to-day with family and friends during the previous tour. Live Revelations also features the moving music video for the hit song “Revelation.” The accompanying audio disc places the listener in the front row as it features nine tracks drawn from Third Day’s summer and fall 2008 tour dates, showcasing songs including, “This Is Who I Am,” “Otherside” and “I Will Always Be True.” A highlight of the CD is the live collaboration with Switchfoot, Jars of Clay and Robert Randolph & The Family Band for a cover of the U2/B.B. King classic “When Love Comes To Town,” captured on last year’s “Music Builds Tour.”

In support of the “Revelation Tour,” Third Day has already been interviewed by more than twenty newspapers including the Green Bay Gazette & Post Cresent, Pittsburgh's Observer Reporter, The Bangor Daily News, The San Antonio Express News and The Shreveport Times. The tour continues Third Day’s tradition of “paying it forward” by donating $1 per ticket sold to charitable organizations through its “Come Together Fund.” Through this fund, Third Day has been able to serve charities such as Habitat For Humanity, Blood:Water Mission, World Vision’s Hope Child Initiative and is responsible for more than a million dollars in donations over the last 4 years to disaster relief in and outside of the U.S.

Third Day 'Revealed' in New Christian Music TV Series

Gospel Music Channel debuted a new original series over the weekend that brings fans up close and personal with their favorite Christian artists.

“Revealed,” which premiered Saturday night, is similar to MTV’s “Unplugged” and VH1’s “Storytellers” in that each episode features popular artists who perform in front of a mostly small and intimate live audience. During the one-hour episodes, artists also tell stories about their music, writing experiences and memories.

“The secret sauce in what makes us different is the faith element,” says Brad Siegel, GMC’s vice chairman and a former president of Turner Entertainment Networks.

“When there is scripture behind a song, they can tell the audience. The more they reveal, the more satisfied the viewer,” he told the Journal-Constitution newspaper of Atlanta, where GMC is based and “Revealed” is taped.

For the premiere episode, GMC tapped Atlanta’s most successful Christian rock band, Third Day, who have expressed high expectations for the new series after the taping of the first episode last month.

“Sometimes you get the sense that something really special is happening as it's going on. This was definitely one of those times,” Third Day guitarist Mark Lee reported after the band spent nearly 5 hours for the first episode.

“[W]e did extended introductions to the songs where we shared about recording the songs in the studio or the story behind the lyric. I think [our fans] are really going to dig this,” he added.

Among the songs featured in “Third Day: Revealed” are “Always Be True,” “Call My Name,” “Cry Out To Jesus,” “I've Always Loved You,” “Love Song, Revelation,” “Tunnel” and “Your Love Oh Lord” – just a small handful of the award-winning songs that have led the band to 23 career Dove Awards, three Graymmy Awards (with eight career nominations), an American Music Award, three AMA nominations and multiple ASCAP honors.

“Third Day: Revealed” will broadcast again this Thursday at 10 p.m. ET. on Gospel Music Channel, which reaches more than 43 million homes on various cable systems around the country and on DIRECTV on channel 338.

Artists featured in upcoming installments of “Revealed” include Jars of Clay (April 4) and Israel Houghton (April 25).

Third Day’s Revelation Tour with Brandon Heath and Revive Kicks Off With Four Sold Out Shows

The Northeast is widely known to be a very difficult region for Christian music. With a smaller segment of the population identifying itself as evangelical, and a less robust network of Christian radio stations, the infrastructure that normally supports Christian music and specifically Christian tours is simply not intact. Throw in an economic crisis, and the formula for a successful Third Day show would seem to be nonexistent. Despite these facts, THE REVELATION TOUR has had an impressive showing in this region. In 3 days, Third Day performed for close to 8,000 fans in 3 cities. The McMurray, PA shows and Worcester, Mass shows were completely sold out with 3,000 + fans in Maine. Third Day currently has four sold out dates for the THE REVELATION TOUR. Mac Powell commented from stage at the sold out Palladium Theater that he enjoyed the audiences of the Northeast because their faith costs them something. “In the south, there is a church on every corner. If you’re born in America, and you haven’t killed anybody, people call themselves Christians. Up here, you appreciate the cost of following Christ.” “We’ve really enjoyed this run,” says bass player Tai Anderson. “The crowds are so enthusiastic, and it feels like they’re really appreciative that we’re here. We’re committed to coming back often, and hope that other Christian bands will make it a priority.” To learn more about Third Day, please visit: www.ThirdDay.com.

A 75-MINUTE documentary by Atlanta rockers Third Day with accompanying audio disc is set for release in April. 'Live Revelations: On Stage, Off Stage, Back Stage' is described as an "all access record of the band." Said the band's bass player Tai Anderson, "When we say 'all access' we really went to the extreme with it. You'll see Mac, Mark, David, me living day-to-day with the people we call our 'family on the road' and just being ourselves; sometimes intense, sometimes funny - but always real. I'm really proud of the way 'Live Revelations' turned out. This is the kind of piece I'd want to see from my favorite bands. It has great performances, but also captures the tension and struggles of our lives on the road. The mix of performance and documentary makes it engaging all the way through."

New Live DVD/CD Takes Fans Through Different ‘Stages’ Of Life On The Road,

The 75-minute documentary seamlessly blends the powerful Third Day live concert experience with exclusive behind-the-scenes moments as only an "all access" pass can offer. "When we say 'all access' we really went to the extreme with it," notes Tai Anderson, the band's bass player. Live Revelations also features the moving music video for the No. 1 song "Revelation," the title track of Third Day's Revelation (7/29/08), culled from a live performance and interspersed with footage from California's "Salvation Mountain," the constantly evolving "outsider art" project that served as the inspiration for Revelation's cover art treatment.
Anderson elaborates, "I'm really proud of the way 'Live Revelations' turned out. This is the kind of piece I'd want to see from my favorite bands. It has great performances, but also captures the tension and struggles of our lives on the road. The mix of performance and documentary makes it engaging all the way through."

The accompanying audio disc places the listener in the front row as it features nine tracks drawn from summer and fall 2008 tour dates, showcasing songs including, "This Is Who I Am," "Otherside" and "I Will Always Be True."

A highlight of the audio disc is the team-up with friends from Switchfoot, Jars of Clay and Robert Randolph & The Family Band for a cover of the U2/B.B. King classic "When Love Comes To Town," captured on last year's Music Builds Tour benefiting Habitat for Humanity.

"It is always a pleasure to release live versions of our songs," shares drummer, David Carr. "We spend so much time constructing the album versions but the songs really take on their true form when there is no going back and fixing anything, and there is no chance to second guess when we just get to be a live band. It was especially a joy to share the stage with the likes of Jars of Clay, Switchfoot and Robert Randolph in the performance of 'When Love Comes to Town'! The song was electrifying and moving and each of us got a kick out of playing alongside such immense talent."

Fans can catch Third Day on the road this spring as it kicks off its 34-city Revelation Tour on March 5 in Champaign, Ill. The band will deliver its trademark live show with special guests, GMA's 'New Artist of the Year' and Double GRAMMY Nominee, Brandon Heath and high-energy, Australian pop/rock band, Revive.
